Scottish Hospitality Talent Conference Set For Edinburgh

Hotel staff, chefs, hospitality workers and students from across Scotland will gather in the Edinburgh Corn Exchange on the 9th February for the for the country’s only event to encourage talent in the hospitality industry.

Now in its eighth year, the annual Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland Emerging Talent Conference brings together promising students and professionals to focus on this year’s theme the professional marketplace. Attendees will hear from leading industry experts and take part in creative workshops to help develop their career.

The two keynote speakers are Michael Levie, CEO of citizenM hotels, and Debbie Zmorenski, an Executive Coach and trainer from the USA with 34 years experience with Disney. Workshops will include session on personal branding, social media and career management.

The day concludes with an award of 100 emerging talent scholarships. The announcement of this year’s Emerging Talent Scholars represents a £100,000 investment from HIT Scotland towards developing future leaders for the industry.

Recipients will embark on world class learning experiences at home and abroad. International destinations include Dubai, Switzerland and the USA. Scholars are also placed with Michelin starred chefs or will go behind the scenes are world class events and businesses across the UK.

David Cochrane, Chief Executive of HIT Scotland said, “Scotland’s hospitality, leisure and tourism industry is worth £11.2 billion to the local economy, yet we don’t pay enough attention to the people behind these figures. Supporting the encouraging the leaders of tomorrow is an important step in developing the industry and ensuring the country can make the best use of its resources.”
